Charlene is a 30 Year Volunteer and Public Servant

Charlene currently serves as Vice President of the Greater Houston Frontiers where she upholds the six pillars of service through academics, brother/sisterhood, civic engagement, leadership, social justice and teamwork. As President of the Black Alumni, Charlene increased the association’s brand awareness, community projects, and student engagement. As a chair on the University of Houston Alumni Foundation Public Affairs Committee, she continues to contribute to public policy efforts by building and maintaining a strong reputation and finding common ground with community stakeholders.

Charlene is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. where she serves as Social Justice and Connection Chair. Charlene  is a member of Top Ladies of Distinction-Humble Intercontinental Chapter and serves as Community Service Chair. Charlene is a lifetime member of the A. Philip Randolph Institute Houston Chapter, which is advancing social and economic justice for working families nationwide. 

Charlene understands the positive impact of investing in the community, which is why she continues to volunteer, fundraise and organize numerous community events designed to enrich the lives of the people in District 139 and the surrounding community.  Charlene understands the importance of educating voters and actively participates in political education by block walking,  volunteering with political campaigns, voter registration drives, candidates’ forums, Get Out To Vote rallies.
